Your son has all the right body parts to make sex work, but we don’t want them to just yet. Your daughter has all of her body parts too, but we don’t want them to work yet either. But where’s your child’s biggest sex organ? It’s not between their legs – it’s between their ears – it’s their brain! All sex thought starts in their brain. As parents, we want our teenagers to start thinking about what they’re thing about. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (RSV) When our kids are trolling the channels on TV – what are they thinking about? When they see a text from a guy friend – what are they thinking about? When they see a girl bend over at her locker – what are they thinking about? When they hear back up the booty lyrics – what are they thing about? When they’re looking at porn – what are they thinking about? When they’re reading a romance novel – what are they thinking about? What is your teen thinking about? Parent for purity on purpose. We can help direct their attention to things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report and if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8
